Moshannon State Forest Contemplative Backpacking


This contemplative backpacking trip in the wilderness area of north-central Pennsylvania will be a unique experience! The Moshannon and Elk State Forest areas are home to elk populations, as well as, one of the only Osprey nesting sites in PA. We will be carrying all our gear, camping in tents, filtering water, and practicing Leave No Trace ethics for all waste and physical impact. Our route is approximately 25 miles. Each day includes 7-10+ miles of hiking, as well as, opportunities for solitude and guided contemplative practice. For more information and to register visit:

This three day trip departs early from Pittsburgh on Wednesday morning and returns Friday evening. Please plan accordingly, before registering. Breakfasts and dinners are provided. Participants provide their own lunch & snacks. Gear is not provided, but we will help you find what you need! Transportation will be coordinated among leaders and participants.
